In doing so, they sought the Witch's help, and had terrible side-effects to their new-found magick. While they were able to become drastically more powerful, they were also consumed by greed, and internally tormented for it. Instead of drawing power from the light, as they did before while Angels, Demons absorb the darkness in any shape or form. [break] [break]
Demons are broken down in their respective Sin and are classified as such. Depending on the Sin, it might be difficult to identify a Demon's Sin with a simple look however some are highly obvious.[break][break]
Demons have a Demonification state which occurs when they are consumed with their Sin. This Demonification can change a Demon's appearance (They can grow horns, tails, change skin color, change size, etc...) and enhances their given abilities strength and speed while granting them new abilities depending on their Sin. The more they give in to their sin, the stronger they seem to become. [break][break]
Typical Mutations of sins cannot be double dipped. Meaning you cannot have both the horns of a Gluttony demon and the tails of a Wrath demon. Mutations are specific to each sin so do take care and read up on the different mutations.[break][break]

[attr="class","back-thing"] [attr="class","temp-title"]Demons [attr="class","sub-thing"] [attr="class","sub-text"]life as a sinner [attr="class","temp-text"]Demons were the second to last Race to be created. They were born from The Protectors slipping towards the darker arts, the opposite of an Angel's strength.
Due to their desire for more power to protect the Humans after they caused such destruction among themselves, Witches were able to channel that thirst for power and turned The Protectors into Demons. They gained immense power, but in turn, they were filled with sin.
Different Demons yearn for different things and their sin is concentrated in different areas. As if to classify them, each Demon has a Marking that they simply choose to call a "Tattoo" and are quite similar to the Angels' Markings. These Tattoos correspond to one of the 7 deadly sins. This mark appears on their body once they are born/created. The Tattoos are a small blackened figure of the animal with blood red eyes that seem to glow regardless of the time of day.
Some (but not all) demons may experience nasty mutations over time. This is believed to be linked somehow to their tattoos, although the exact mechanism and relationship remains unknown considering the tattoo itself never morphs or changes. The mutations demons can experience depend largely on their indulgence in their respective sins in conjunction with their own personalities. For some, mutations can include horns, or red skin. Others might shrink in size or lose a limb. The possibilities are endless, but they are always dictated by the cardinal sin the demon falls prey to and/or their own personalities.
Although most Demons experience negative side effects as their tattoos morph, some demons never experience any mutation to their bodies at all, keeping only the tattoo they were born or created with as evidence of their demonic nature. In rare cases, the demon's tattoos may create purely aesthetic mutations such as wings or incredibly fair skin. These demons are considered "liberated." Some scholars and mystics suggest this may be due to a demon's attempts or desires to become angelic once again.
(Please note that the descriptions of the following sins are merely suggestions and examples, NOT requirements for each sin. Your demon can have as little or as many deformities as you want. Try and be creative!)
SLOTH (Snail): Other Demons look down on Demons of this Sin. They are usually emphasized by laziness either physically, mentally or spiritually. A sloth demon may tends to disregard doing things they know that they should do and are often very set in their ways. Typical mutations include shrinkage and corroding body parts. Visual and auditory distortions/hallucinations are also quite common for snails. Some snails report entirely different events than the average being; one such claimed that he lived in the mouth of a chicken.
ENVY (Snake): Similar to Greed and Lust, this Sin is referred to as an uncontrollable desire. Similar to jealousy, Envy feels resentment towards other's status/abilities/traits etc... Unlike greed and lust demons, the envy Demon tends to be desire things they notice others have and usually constantly compare themselves to others around them. Typical mutations are vocal in nature, such as lisps or consistent slurring. On rarer occasions, the skin may turn green like a snake. Snakes, in severe cases, can lose all ability to speak and will sometimes choose to become recluses thereafter.
GREED (Pig): This Sin is similar to Gluttony and Lust; however, it desires material goods more than anything. Demons of this Sin are usually wealthy enough to quench those desires. Typical mutations are found on a the demon's belly or back. They can range from massive scars across their spine to large birth marks on their stomach. Recently, it has been discovered that a pig's internal organs can grow to monstrous proportions. Because of this, they may experience chest and breathing problems. A particular pig's stomach ripped out of her body after she had claimed that she was pregnant.
PRIDE (Peacock): This Sin, along with Wrath, is considered one of the most dangerous of Sins. Demons of this Sin put themselves higher than other Races and will stop at nothing to prove so, even at the cost of lives despite it being illegal. Typical mutations are typically dual in nature, one being considered beauteous and the other horrifying or ugly. For example, a peacock may grow large, colorful wings, but have an inverted nose in exchange. If their sin is left unchecked, the inverted nose will grow to unconscionable proportions. Rumor has it that one peacock became nothing more than a sentient pinkie with blonde hair.
LUST (Rat): Demons of this Sin have uncontrollable desires. This desire could be anything and each Demon have a specific wanting that overtakes the rest. At first, no mutations were noticeable in rats. However, recent Elven research has suggested mental and neural degradation alongside stunted or accelerated aging is tied to this sin. This often leads rats to change their traits over time.
GLUTTONY (Toad): For this Sin, Demons are overindulgent. This could be for anything, not just consumables. For example, a gluttony demon might amass a giant collections of antiques to scratch the itch of their sin. Demons of this Sin are usually incredibly selfish. Typical mutations include indigestion, brain damage, and elongated body parts. In extreme cases, gluttons can excrete or bleed from their eyes.
WRATH (Lion): Demons of this Sin, along with Demons of Pride, are usually avoided due to their inability to control their anger and violence. Wrath Demons usually vent their anger. on passerbys making them unlikely to live an adapted lifestyle in Pavane. Typical mutations for lions are redness of skin, horns, hooves, and yellowing of the eyes. Lions suffer from blood flow problems which on occasion leads to internal hemorrhaging and sometimes, it's rumored, explosions of the heart.
Note: A Liberated Demon must have once been consumed by one of these sins in the past.
