 Polished pews shined in the fire light of the Chapel's eastern wing, the delicately clean and tended wood lined either side of the plush sea-blue carpet Sasayaku currently walked upon. It was rumored the wood for these pews was carved from the top roots of Yggdrasil itself and Sasayaku could never resist the urge to touch at least one of the beautifully crafted pieces whenever he paid a visit to the eastern wing. The Chapel of Yggdrasil was famed throughout Pavane, but the eastern wing was primarily used only for Vatican dignitaries. This private section contained more art and beauty than almost any other section of the church. Marble statues of Angels and Elves not to mention a centuries old stained glass window of the goddesses themselves graced this hall with a special holy fervor.
Reaching out with his right hand Sasayaku brushed his fingertips across the smooth surface of the nearest pew. It barely even felt like touching wood... the material was more akin to weathered stone. Normally Sasayaku was not permitted in this place, even his station as a 'Holy Ghost' a church spy did not grant him the right to visit the eastern wing. Today however Sasayaku had been summoned to this most holy chamber. The Elf suspected that some Vatican official planned to give him a truly important mission, for in over eighty years of life Sasayaku had only stood within this room twice before now. In honor of his summons Sasayaku wore his finest clothes, silk material cut in traditional design. Even the man's scarf was of the finest quality he could afford. Finer in fact as an artisan only truly made so much off of his commissions.
A loud click rang through the empty chamber as an old door opened towards the alter. A pair of burly Vatican guards entered the chamber with their ceremonially blades and armor shining. one of them carried a ornate box within her arms. "Mr Lamb. We must ask you to disarm before your appointment may continue." said the woman holding the box, which she opened to reveal a velvet lined interior. Reluctantly pulling his fingers from the impossibly smooth pew, Sasayaku strode to the pair of guards and began to remove his equipment. A long bronze knife, several shuriken, and two other small blades were placed into the box. Next Sasayaku withdrew three hardened clay devises from a pouch at his waist and carefully set them inside as well. "They explode. Use caution with them." Sasayaku warned. The male guards face took on a look of surprise, but the female Elf only grinned and closed the box.
"Our mistress will be with you shortly. I advise you take a moment to pray before her arrival." the guards-woman said as the pair exited back out the heavy door they had entered from. Her words gave Sasayaku pause for just a brief moment as he wondered which Vatican official had chosen to summon him? In the end Sasayaku supposed it didn't matter as the honor of being summoned at all was grand in and of itself. Moving to the alter of the goddesses Sasayaku bent his knee and raised his hands before his chest to pray as instructed while he awaited whoever was to come through the door next.
