[attr="class","sub-text"]Chapter 1 ~A Time Before Pavane: the Goddess's Wills~
[attr="class","temp-text"]
In the beginning, there existed only two goddesses, Aheria, the Goddess of Misfortune, and Charlotte, the Goddess of Calamity. Boredom consumed these two goddesses, urging within them the desire to create life. Thus, the two goddesses sought to create the original races: the Elves, the Fairies, the Humans, and the Angels. [break][break]
Charlotte had a fixation for magical beings, so she created the Elves and the Fairies bestowing upon them powerful, natural magick. [break][break]
Aheira, on the other hand, had no desire for her race to use magick. Instead, she created the humans, convinced that their emotional aptitude was more valuable than Charlotte's silly magick. In order to protect her beloved race, she then created the Angels whose purpose was to watch over the humans and their endeavors. [break][break]
And the goddesses were satisfied with their work. The races were free to roam, free to do as they wished. However, the races proved to be quite the hassle for the goddesses.

[attr="class","sub-text"]Chapter 2 ~A Time Before Pavane: The Birth of the Races~
[attr="class","temp-text"]
Many centuries passed with the four Original Races in the world. They grew exponentially in size; however, Aheira's mistake of giving Humans strong emotions marked a downward spiral for them. [break][break]
They were envious of the other races for their magick and longer life span. [break][break]
Some Humans sought out some magick of their own. One Human successfully befriended a Fairy and from them, she learned about Elemental magick. She took this knowledge back to the Humans and taught them everything she had learned. The Humans began experimenting with this new elemental magick. They applied this magick to their daily lives, but they were not satisfied. Afterwards, Humans learned Elven magick. Together with Fairy magic, it made their lives immensely easier in terms of daily life such as creating fires without matches, building new structures, not relying on rivers for water and such. [break][break]
Despite learning all of this, Humans were still unable to achieve a longer lifespan. They experimented with different applications of Fairy and Elven magick but were getting nowhere. [break][break]
Some Humans heard rumors of a Great Witch who was known for granting wishes. They set out to find this Great Witch. Upon finding her, the Humans wished for a longer lifespan. The Witch fulfilled their request and told them to eat a special meal embedded with mysterious powers. Unknown to the Humans at the time, this meal had flesh from several races. Their wish was granted. However, they were forced to live a life craving flesh as Ghouls.[break][break]
The Grand Witch noticed the unconventional ways that the Humans were applying their new-found knowledge. This Witch approached those Humans and bestowed upon them her knowledge of dark magick. The Grand Witch hoped that she could learn from these Humans and perhaps their odd appliance of magick would be the key to getting the powers that were taken away from her by the goddesses. The Humans used the dark arts and were able to extend their lives. This created the Witches.[break][break]
Other Humans who were unable to master magick began experimenting with their kind, combining different Races by coupling with others to create a hybrid however this achieved very little and only served to further diminish the Race. Many other Races despised the Halflings and considered them a "watered down" version of themselves. The remaining humans dwindled in number until practical extinction.

[attr="class","temp-text"]
The Angels at this point debated how to continue care for the humans within their new environment. The first category of Angels, known as the Watchers, believed that watching over the humans and their behaviors was enough to fulfill the duty Aheira had given them. The other group of Angels, known as Protectors, believed that intervention in human affairs would be the most effective way to regulate their behavior. [break][break]
After seeing the horrible effects of Human greed, The Protectors sought more power to save who they were meant to protect. The Angels didn't consider these newly found Witches and Ghouls as Humans. In order to protect the remaining Humans, the Protectors decided they needed to change. They began drawing power from the dark elements compared to an Angel's natural attraction to light elements.[break][break]
The Protectors sought creative ways to attain more power to protect the humans. They were all unsuccessful. As a last resort, they conferred with the Witches despite them being responsible for the corruption of their beloved Humans. These Witches granted them the power they had taken from the Elves and Fairies. The Protectors, with their new-found power, became a new race, the Demons. The Demons became greedy beings, absorbed by their powerful new magick, but are considerably more powerful than their Angel counterparts. Forever, the Demons would curse the Witches for their tomfoolery, many desiring to become Angels once again. [break][break]
Many Demons longed to once again become the Angels they had once been. They searched fervently for a method to return to their former glory. Eventually, some Demons resorted to drinking the blood of Angels with hopes that they might be purified by their Angelic blood. However, what was created from this was instead a race known as Vampires, who would forever be reliant on the blood of other creatures most notably, the Humans who they were meant to protect when they were Angels.

[attr="class","temp-text"]
The races fought, struggled for power, killed, actions that the goddesses had not quite anticipated. Disappointed with their inane behavior, the goddesses debated what to do. Charlotte suggested that the two should simply kill everyone, but Aheira suggested instead to encase them within a city as punishment for their sins. The city that was created was known as Pavane, and each of the races were locked away inside for eternity. Thenceforth, the goddesses ceased interaction with the races. Some question whether they ever existed in the first place.

[attr="class","sub-text"]Chapter 5 ~since that time...~
[attr="class","temp-text"]
Many centuries have passed since Pavane was created (Approx yr. 1000). A clear hierarchy was set in stone, indicating the higher level Races and the lower level Races and separating them. A Council was set in place to govern the other races, but only the Angels, Vampires and Demons hold a place on the council. Many found this to be unfair to the lower Races. However, no one resisted the decision due to their immense strength.[break][break]
At the top of the hierarchy stand the Vampires, Demons and Angels. Beneath them lie the Fairies and Elves, then stand the Ghouls and at the bottom of the hierarchy lies the Halflings who were considered the worst of the Races. Witches were blamed as the sole reason for their punishment and were excluded when the other Races created their society.

[attr="class","sub-text"]Chapter 6 ~The Revolution~
[attr="class","temp-text"]
In a rage of their low standings within the hierarchy, Halflings conspired with Ghouls, eventually convincing the Ghouls into an uprising against the council. Higher standing Vampires, Angels, and Demons were being stealthily killed and consumed daily by those in the Ghoul uprising as the council avoided confrontation with this issue in order to keep their previous unwavering status. The question, then, was if the Ghouls would be successful throwing the council out of order and making a true place for themselves, or would the races of the council kick them back into their slums?[break][break]
The answer was none but few would have predicted. Under strict order of the council, all known Ghouls were brutally exterminated. There was no trace of the race that was, much alike the long forgotten Humans. The council held a grip ever tightened by power combined with fear, while life carried as if nothing changed at all.
